The Power of Positive Thinking: How Optimism Can Transform Your Life

  • Transformed Discipleship Training

"Follow me and I will make you fishers of men" (Matthew 4:19) is Jesus calling to men he chose to pivot from their fishing livelihoods to spreading the gospel and gathering people to His kingdom. This command highlights a shift from material labor to spiritual purpose, promising to transform followers into disciples. This lesson will transform you as you dive into the Commands of Christ.

    TRANSFORMED DISCIPLESHIP TRAINING

The first followers of Jesus were a ‘band of brothers’who traveled with him and learned from both his lifestyle and teaching, the secretto bringing heaven to earth. As arabbi it was expected that Jesus would give hischosen students his own interpretation of the scripture, and this he did in many commands. The commands made up a ‘yoke’of teachings. Every rabbi had a specific ‘yoke’ of interpretations of scripture and commands. Jesus said Hisyoke was light - not cumbersome or complicated. It was a clear set of commands and commentaries on the popular schools of the day. Matthew 11:28-30 Come to Me,all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. 29 Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.

    The Seed Principles

    INTRODUCTION: THE BLUEPRINT

Many in our world today are building prosperous lives as a result of the concept of “positive thinking,” the greed for wealth, jealousy, competition, various placebos, false gods and cults, etc. They are elevating their lifestyles andsuccess in living and are not giving glory to God nor walking through thedoor! Jesus said that He is thedoor. Verse 7 says, “Thensaid Jesus unto them again, verily, verily, I say unto you, I am the door of the sheep.” Once one has walkedthrough the door, Jesus Christ, they are ready to legally venture into the
realm of abundant living. They becomeclothed in the righteousness of Christ. 2Corinthians 5:21, “For He hath made Him to be sin for us, whoknew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in Him.” We are made heirs of the Father and joint heirs with His Son, Jesus. Romans 8:17, “And if children, then heirs;heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ.”

    LESSON 1: THE SEED PRINCIPLE

Thereare basically two dimensions in which the seed principle presides, the spiritual and the physical. The latter being aresult of the former. That is, the physicalis a result of the spiritual. In Hebrews 11, we find that throughfaith we understand that God spoke the universe into existence. That the things which appear were createdfrom things which do not appear. Thetangible is a manifestation of the intangible. That the higher order of law is in the realm of the spirit. Hebrews 11:3, “Through faith we understandthat the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear.” The things we see in the physical world were made from things we do not see in the spiritual world.

    LESSON 2: PLANTING THE SEED

Anyfarmer can tell you that in order forseeds to germinate, they have to be planted into the soil or an environment where germination can occur. They must receive proper nutrients to begin the growth process. In this lesson, we willdiscover the methods used to plant seeds within us. In the parable of the sower, we see thatsomeone is planting seed, and in this case the seed happens to be God's Word.

The devil, as we know, is planting his seed also. Matthew 13:25 says, “Butwhile men slept, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat, and went his way.” Notice he just went hisway, after he sowed his seed, it produces of its own accord. That is the nature of seed.

    LESSON 3: CULTIVATION

Aftera seed is planted, we must cultivate it, and care for it, or it willdie. If we don't, we will have wastedour time in trying to grow that seed within us. Cultivate, according to Webster, means (1) to prepare and use (soil, land, etc.) For growing crops, to till; (2) to break up the surface soil around plants in order to destroy weeds, prevent crusting and preserve moisture; (3) to grow (plants or crops) from seeds, bulbs, shoots, etc.; (4) to improve or develop (plants) by various horticultural techniques; (5) to improve by care, training or study, refine, as, cultivate your mind; (6) to promote thedevelopment or growth of, acquire and develop, as he cultivated a social conscience (we’re talking about Christ consciousness); (7) to seek to develop a familiarity with; give one's attention to, pursue.

    LESSON 4: SEED GERMINATION

Whenseed begins to germinate, seed begins to multiply. One becomes two, two becomes four, fourbecomes eight, etc., until an entire entity of whatever the seed was designated to develop, has formed. And within thefruit of whatever has formed, there is more seed and a process known as geometric growth begins to occur. Dreams, visions, happiness, joy, peace, salvation, healing, love, you name it, it begins to spread very rapidly as their seeds are germinated and begin to multiply. Churches grow, businessesgrow, people grow personally (historically this has been called revival). Likewise, on the other hand, anegative seed can be sown as well.
